John Hourican has more than 28 years of global financial services experience. John began his career at Price Waterhouse working in Dublin, Hong Kong and London before moving to Royal Bank of Scotland in 1997.  During his time at Royal Bank of Scotland John held a number of senior posts including serving as Chief Executive of the Group’s Investment Bank (Markets & International Banking) for 5 years.  Between 2013 and 2019 John served as CEO of Bank of Cyprus, the largest banking and financial services group in Cyprus.  During his tenure, John reshaped the business, re-established its deposit base, improved the quality of its loan book and strengthened its financial position. John was named Euromoney’s Banker of the Year in 2015.  John is a fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in Ireland.

Rob has nearly 30 years’ experience in financial services, spanning credit, commercial, analytics and operations. He joined NewDay in 2012 from Santander UK as Director of Customer Management and was appointed to our executive leadership team in 2017 as Chief Credit & Collections Officer. In 2024, he became CEO of Credit and after two years leading the credit business, was appointed as NewDay’s CEO in 2026. Rob began his career as an actuary at PwC, and later held roles at HBOS and Capital One.

Anthony joined NewDay in 2018 as Head of Financial Planning & Analysis and was appointed Chief Financial Officer in 2026. He leads all finance and treasury functions, including financial control and reporting, FP&A, funding, finance and treasury operations, and tax.

Anthony has 20 years of experience in financial services, specialising in consumer credit. Before joining NewDay, he spent nine years at Barclays across both their Retail Banking and Investment Banking divisions. Anthony began his career on the graduate programme at General Electric after studying economics at the University of Manchester. He is a Chartered Management Accountant.

Damaris joined NewDay in 2013 to lead the People team, bringing a strong track record in shaping talent and organisational strategy. She joined from Hill & Knowlton Strategies, where she served as Chief Operating Officer and helped make talent development a core priority for the business.

Before moving into people leadership, Damaris spent 20 years in commercial roles across the pharmaceutical industry, including senior positions at Sanofi, Bristol-Myers Squibb and Merck. Her background spans marketing and general management, giving her deep experience in building high performing teams and driving business transformation.

Under Damaris's leadership, in 2025 NewDay was recognised as one of Glassdoor's Best Places to Work in the UK.

Taher Rashwan

Taher has 24 years’ experience in financial services technology, across consumer credit and retail banking. He first joined NewDay in 2012 as Director of IT and shortly after assumed responsibility for business transformation, leading major migrations of Lloyds Banking Group’s near‑prime portfolios and Santander’s merchant partnerships onto Fiserv’s platform. After leaving in 2017 to start his own business and spending three years consulting and founding start‑ups, Taher rejoined NewDay in 2020 to lead business transformation, focusing on externalising the NewDay platform. He established the product organisation in 2021 and was appointed to his current role in 2026.

Taher is responsible for enterprise architecture, software and data engineering, infrastructure, application and end‑user support, platform product development, cybersecurity and technology risk management. His earlier career includes senior technology and change roles at Citigroup and Barclays.

Mark Murton

Mark joined NewDay in 2017, initially managing Collections and Impairment. He later became Director of Credit Risk and Collections, a remit that expanded to include Fraud. In 2026, he was appointed Chief Credit Officer and now leads NewDay’s credit risk, fraud and collections strategy.

Before joining NewDay, he held senior roles at the Royal Bank of Scotland, Morgan Stanley, Barclays and TSB, covering all areas of Retail Lending. Throughout his career, Mark has led teams across Credit Risk Strategy, Modelling, Impairment, Forecasting and Analytics. He also served as CEO of Athena Credit Risk Management Consultancy, where he focused on Credit Risk and Collections Strategy.

Steve has 25 years of experience in financial services, holding senior operational and strategic roles for major firms in the UK.

He joined NewDay in 2016 as Head of Collections Strategy and Recoveries, and was appointed Chief Operations Officer in 2026. Steve is responsible for our customer and client operations, operational performance and risk, business management, and change delivery for operations and digital products.

Prior to joining Newday, Steve held leadership roles at MBNA, Bank of America and Barclays, where he led teams across operations, customer service and transformation.

Sharvan Selvam

Sharvan joined NewDay in 2018 as Commercial Director of Own Brands cards. Now as our Chief Product Officer, Sharvan is responsible for our product and marketing strategy across cards, loans and embedded finance, and leads our data science and growth strategies.

With more than 20 years’ experience in consumer banking, Sharvan has held roles across the US and UK. He began his career at Capital One in the US before moving to Barclays, working across retail banking. Sharvan then joined Zopa to lead their personal loans product, before moving to NewDay.

Alex joined NewDay in January to support the growth of our near prime brands. Since then, he has held senior roles across acquisitions, product, customer strategy and enterprise partnerships, becoming Chief Partnerships Officer in 2026.

Alex leads NewDay’s partnership growth strategy, with responsibility for attracting new B2C and B2B partners, driving business development, and strengthening existing partnerships to deliver long-term value to both NewDay and partners. 

Alex brings 20 years of experience, primarily in consumer, and previously worked at Capital One UK and Vodafone. During his time at NewDay, he has played a key role in our major partnership and product milestones, including signing Argos and John Lewis Partnership, and developing the UK’s first cardless product, Bip.

Stuart Whitty-Lewis

Stuart joined NewDay in 2015 as Head of Legal and now leads our Legal and Risk function. With more than 20 years’ experience advising major UK banks and financial services firms, Stuart brings expertise in corporate, regulatory, risk management and commercial matters.

Before joining NewDay, Stuart was a corporate lawyer at Slaughter and May. Since then, he has been involved in many of NewDay’s defining moments, including overseeing the sale of the business to Cinven and CVC in 2017 and later to KKR in 2026.

He has also been closely involved in key strategic projects, such as the acquisition of the Argos portfolio, our partnership with Lloyds Banking Group, and developing key merchant relationships. Stuart holds an LLB in Law from King’s College London.

Paul has over 30 years of experience in financial services across banking, consumer finance, asset management and insurance.

He spent 10 years as Chief Financial Officer and Chief Operating Officer at NewDay and will move into a role managing NewDay’s AssetCo, working for KKR from July 2026.

Before joining NewDay, Paul held CFO/COO roles at Legatum and Record plc. Earlier in his career he was Group Finance Director at Arbuthnot Banking Group plc and Commercial Finance Director for Prudential’s UK and European Business.

Paul began his career in private equity after qualifying as a Chartered Accountant with Arthur Andersen. He is a member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales.

Sanjay joined NewDay in 2013. Sanjay has more than 24 years’ experience in senior technology and operational roles in international businesses working in India, the Philippines, London and Austria. He joined from BAWAG bank in Vienna where he was Chief Operating Officer and a member of the Management Board.
